More Than Just a Meal: Our Journey with Restoring Hope
Since June 2020, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside an organisation that embodies its name every single day: Restoring Hope.
What started as a collaboration has grown into a deep-rooted mission to uplift the Victoria Lodge and Cafda Village communities in Southfield. By partnering with this incredible team, we aren’t just providing resources; we’re investing in the future of our neighbors.
Who is Restoring Hope?
Founded in 2015 by Devin Frans and Mikhail Kroutz, Restoring Hope began with a simple but powerful vision: two young men optimistic about the future, determined to bring change to previously disadvantaged areas.
Today, the organisation is powered by:
- 7 Core Members: Professionals and students who juggle full-time careers and studies to dedicate their “free” time to the community.
- 30+ Volunteers: A dedicated fleet of locals who tackle the daily challenges facing the Southfield area.
The Kids Fellowship Program: Building Foundations
The kids fellowship program is one of the social development program that restoring hope runs. They recognize that while immediate relief is vital, long-term change happens through the next generation. This is the heartbeat of the Kids Fellowship Program.
Designed for children and youth aged 2 to 18, this program provides a structured environment where kids can:
- Learn & Engage: Discovering their strengths through educational support.
- Express Themselves: Utilising recreation and life-skills activities to find their voice.
- Reach Potential: Understanding that their circumstances do not define their future.
“The goal is to provide a platform where kids understand how they can reach their full potential through learning and engagement.”
Our Partnership With Restoring Hope
Restoring Hope’s philosophy of community development mirrors our own. They understand that for a community to thrive, support must be comprehensive. By combining social advocacy with educational initiatives, they address the “whole person.”
We joined Restoring Hope because they see the big picture and work tirelessly to ensure no one is left behind in the Playstation community.
Fuelling the Body and the Soul
The cornerstone of our partnership involves fuelling the body and soul. We’ve therefore made a weekly commitment from our kitchen.
Why? You can’t mentor a hungry child!
Every Wednesday, our chefs lovingly prepare a warm, hearty meal for the community. We serve over 100 people each week, ensuring that the residents of Victoria Lodge and Cafda Village have at least one less worry on their plates.
